Lake Montagnoli

This is a quiet walk, perfect for families with children, which leads to the artificial lake of Montagnoli, an ideal place to have a picnic and relax in an extraordinary panorama, a natural solarium nestled in the Dolomites.

Lake Montagnoli holds the record as the largest Italian water basin used for the production of programmed artificial snow. It is an authentic alpine lake of 36 thousand square meters, capable of storing approximately 200,000 cubic meters of water. This reserve allows, during the winter, the numerous kilometers of slopes in the Madonna di Campiglio area to be quickly covered with snow using snow cannons.

The lake, created by the Madonna di Campiglio cableway company, does not look like an artificial work but rather a real alpine lake, located in a natural depression surrounded by coniferous forests. All aspects of the lake have been carefully designed to harmonize it with the surrounding environment, starting from its sweet and natural, non-geometric shape, which blends perfectly with the landscape.

Lake Montagnoli is located just below the Rifugio Montagnoli, in the Pian della Zedola area, on the Spinale side, at an altitude of 1764 metres. In summer, it is a pleasant destination for a walk.
